WOMEN HELPING WOMEN
Twelfth Annual Luncheon
*Friday, March 12, 2010*
"What we can teach each other as women at any age, is that being vulnerable is not the same as being weak. The display of vulnerability requires a most intimate form of trust. We trust one another, and then learn to trust ourselves. Only then are the possibilities of our talents, confidence, and ultimately our hearts, fully opened.”
Speaker: Franci Phelan
Topic: To Boldly Go
Date: Friday, March 12, 2010
Time: 11:30 a.m. 1:00 p.m.
Location: Sheraton West Des Moines
1800 50th Street, West Des Moines
Tickets: $45 (includes lunch); $400 / table of 10
Since 1999, the Des Moines Pastoral Counseling Center has sponsored an annual luncheon to raise awareness of our work with women struggling with the challenges of life on limited resources and to generate funds to help subsidize counseling for low-income women and girls. Please join us for this uplifting event in celebration of women.
Franci Phelan, this year’s featured speaker, grew up on a farm in Iowa where she learned about values, hard work and a sense of adventure. The teachings from the farm are now the guiding principles she uses in her personal and professional life. “To Boldly Go” is the story of how Franci uses her Iowa experiences to focus on mission-driven causes, and how having a strong personal foundation provides the courage to experience life to its fullest. “Every year I establish several goals to accomplish throughout the year with the intention to grow, expand, give, and be bold. The world is big and wherever life takes any of us, we can and must Boldly Go.”
Invitations will be in the mail early February 2010. Call the Center today to request an invitation.
